Tools
Tools are essential to understand and screen for risks in different weather scenarios. Learn more of the different available Danish tools.
KAMP : water impact in extreme weather conditions
KAMP is a screening tool showcasing different national data. The tool was developed to support municipal workers with climate adaption in the Danish muncipilites.
As a citizen you may use the tool to simulate the potential impact of extreme weather on your surroundings. The tool contains data on the following scenarios:
- Precipitation in plains
- Stream flooding
- Rising groundwater level
- Increased seawater level
The purpose of the tool is to screen for potential risks. Any identified risk should be followed by further investigation. The tool is not to be used for final risk assessment.
If you want more information on climate adaption in your local area, please reach out to your muncipility.
DMI's Klimaatlas : climate change data in Denmark
The National Center for Climate Research at DMI has developed a nationwide and authoritative data set called Klimaatlas (Climate Atlas) based on in-house data, data from the IPCC and various international databases. The data is freely available. Klimaatlas is currently only available in Danish, but can be used readily with online translation tools.
Data in Klimaatlas shows the future Danish climate in the beginning, middle and end of the century for multiple greenhouse gas emission scenarios. Klimaatlas shows data on e.g. future temperature, precipitation, sea level, wind, evaporation, insolation, relative sea level storm surges and various specific climate indices both at national and municipality levels, drainage basin and coastal stretches and down to a 1 km grid scale.
Klimaatlas thereby gives an indication of areas with a particular future risk of being impacted by extremes. The tool provides fundamental climate data so municipalities and other climate adaptations actors can take the necessary precautions and guard citizens, infrastructure and buildings against future climate change.
